THE CROSSINGS MARLBORO PINOT GRIS, NEW ZEALAND

There’s a place in Marlborough, New Zealand, where early pioneers used to cross the fast-flowing
Awatere River. This is where we grow The Crossings wine – keeping alive that spirit of discovery.
The Crossings offers you exceptionally vibrant New Zealand wines that explore Marlborough’s
adventurous side. With distinctive elegance, our award-winning wines express the intense fruit
and mineral flavours that make Awatere Valley wine such a rewarding experience.

TASTING NOTE – Our Awatere Valley Pinot Gris has flavours of white peach and underlying notes of pear, honey and exotic fruits. Elegant and Deftly balanced with a dry mouthwatering finish, this wine is highly versatile with food. Delicious with oven baked flounder and parmesan cheese.

VITITCULTURE & WINEMAKING – This wine is highly versatile with food. 2014 was an outstanding vintage for Pinot Gris. With ideal ripening conditions extending throughout the long summer months and early autumn months, the grapes were harvested at the point of optimum flavour development. This year’s wines are perfectly balanced by our hallmark fresh minerality. Five parcels of Pinot Gris were harvested individually over a period of seven days. The fruit was crushed, destemmed and pressed gently, separating the free juice from the pressings. The juice was cold settled for
48 hours then racked prior to a long cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to capture and enhance the fruit flavours of pear, honey and stone fruit. Each parcel was lightly filtered prior to bottling.
