Being a family-owned winery absolutely affects our winemaking. It affords us the luxury to take the long view. Over the years, we’ve learned that the vine is truly a mountain animal. While growing grapes in high-elevation vineyards is difficult for both the vintner and the vine, the grapes grown in these elevated sites clearly produce the richest, most intense character and flavors. And taste, after all, is everything. Our estate vineyards include 10,545 acres throughout the cool California coastal regions, where our vineyards sit atop mountains, ridges, hillsides and benchlands. From these breathtakingly beautiful sites, our winemakers draw a rich palate of aromas and flavors to handcraft wines of exceptional depth and complexity. Our success will be measured by generations of family. We can’t just be thinking about today, or tomorrow, or this quarter, or this year. We have to take the long view—100, 200 years—and think of future generations and the environment in which they’ll live. We like to tell people that Kendall-Jackson takes a generational approach to farming the land and maintaining the environment. Our goal is to ensure that the land remains healthy and productive for the following generations to farm. Surely, the term generational approach may sound like a marketing slogan to some people, but the opposite is true. Over the past 30 years our founder Jess Jackson and his family acquired some of the most desirable and dramatic vineyard land in California. His passion for the land was always clear and few things quenched his thirst like spending time in nature with his family.

The Kendall-Jackson offers aromas and flavors that are just in the right places. The wine is never too ripe, nor too lean. This wine is ripe, smooth and beautifully balanced. On the heels of coffee plum and chocolate aromas, earthy tones continue the journey with brighter notes of pomegranate and blackberry following. The finish mellows out with silky and savoury notes.
