Regional Information

The Minervois territory is a vast amphitheatre bordered by the Canal du Midi to the south, the Montagne Noire to the north and extending from the heights of Narbonne to the gates of Carcassonne. The vines are located on clay and limestone hillsides and harvested at perfect maturity

History

Recognised as a French wine expert since 1818, Calvet rigorously selects its cuvées to provide the very best wine from each region.

Vinification Details

Destemmed and crushed grapes are vinified following the traditional method with around 3 weeks of maceration period. After the second fermentation, the maturation follows in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting Notes

Deep-purple reflections, intense black fruit, violet and spicy aromas. Ample palate with soft tannins followed by a nice spicy finish. Best enjoyed with meats dishes cooked in sauce, games or strong cheeses.
