Wallace By Ben Glaetzer, Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache
Wallace Shiraz Grenache is a seamless fusion of two classic grape varieties from the famed Ebenezer subregion of the Barossa Valley. Ripe, peppery old-vine Shiraz dominates and adds weight, texture, and fleshy richness to the palate. The Grenache contributes sweet cherry, toffee, and earthy characters.
Paul Jaboulet Aîné Les Cédres Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2016
Paul Jaboulet Aîné Les Cedres is produced from a 70/15/10/5/ blend of grenache, cinsault, syrah and mourvèdre. The vines average more than 50 years of age, and the grapes are partially destemmed before spending a year in new and used French oak. Expect a wild amount of black fruit with seemingly endless purity and depth. It is youthful and mouth-filling but there is a long life ahead of this red that finishes with a rift of spice and garrigue mixed with supple tannins.
Joseph Phelps Vineyards Freestone Pinot Noir
Grapes were picked under lights and sorted before being gravity fed to tank for a long natural fermentation using an overall average of 20% whole clusters in the final blend. Regular punch downs resulted in a structured wine with silken texture and a distinctive Freestone spice character prevalent in this area of the western Sonoma Coast. The Pinot Noir opens with jammy red fruit and freshly picked strawberries followed by tangy cherry, raspberry and baking spice notes.
Domaine Gayda T’air d’Oc Shiraz
Aged for 6 months in French oak, the nose on the T’Air d’Oc is straight away bathed in hints of spice and red fruit, while the well-structured pallet and medium body hold the soft tannins to a great long ripe finish. A great example of an easy-drinking Syrah, this is packed with plum, black cherry and mulberry notes. Absolutely perfect with anything straight off the barbecue.
